About My Clients
I enjoy working with clients of all ages who hold multiple minority identities and are seeking identity development, trauma therapy, or parent training. Many of my clients have jokingly described me as a "process consultant" and "professional poker". I can treat a range of mental health concerns but highly enjoy serving the local LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent community. I have experience writing letters in support of gender-affirming medical interventions (e.g., hormone treatment and surgery).
My Background and Approach
I provide individual, couples, group, and family therapy. I believe it is crucial to take time to develop a safe, empowering, and liberating relationship with clients. I was trained as a generalist. However, have pursued additional training in the areas of LGBTQ development, gender identity affirmation, neurodiversity, family systems, complex trauma processing, feminist theory, parent training, sex therapy/human sexuality, international psychology, and humanistic-experiential process models.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I practice from a social-justice framework, and I am knowledgeable in providing sex-positive, trauma-informed services to individuals from historically marginalized and oppressed communities. I am an active member of the LGBTQ community and identify as a cisgender, queer woman. As a white, cisgender woman, I do NOT and will NOT ever claim to be an expert on the transgender/gender diverse community. I intentionally use my voice and unfairly allocated privilege as a white, cisgender individual to advocate for gender minorities from historically marginalized and oppressed backgrounds. I have published multiple peer-reviewed articles on the unique experiences and resilience strategies of the LGBTQ community and Syrian refugees in the Midwest USA.
