About My Clients
In many ways you are highly successful, but deep down you know something is not quite right. Experiences in your childhood are impacting your relationships, the way you parent, and the way you see yourself. It often shows up like symptoms of anxiety, depression, and body-based pain. Together we can explore the roots of your symptoms, increase resources for coping, and reprocess stressful or traumatic memories to help get you unstuck.
My Background and Approach
With a degree in Neuroscience & Behavior from Columbia University, I have always been interested in the way our experiences shape how we understand and interact with the world. Having worked as both a K-12 teacher and administrator, I knew it was time to pursue a career in mental health when I became most interested in supporting the psychosocial needs of my students and their families. My foundational mental health training is in infant mental health. Working with children 0-6 and their caregivers has given me a fundamental understanding of how difficulties in childhood can affect a person's thinking, emotions, and behaviors. When children don't have age-appropriate explanations for these things, they tend to blame themselves, which can trigger a lifetime of challenges that are often disconnected from their root cause. Today, I work primarily with adults and parents to explore these root causes, process the associated memories, and integrate adaptive coping skills and ways of being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My practice was birthed from a passionate belief that we all deserve to discover and unlock the power of our stories: To learn them, to tell them, to have them witnessed, and to write our next chapters on our own terms. This belief was founded from a depth of knowledge of human development, the psychobiology of stress, traumatic experiences, and what it takes to heal when the worst has happened. As a clinician trained to provide psychotherapy and other wellness services, I utilize a combination of brain-based, body-based, and insight-oriented interventions to help unlock your unique story and promote healing in just the way you need it.
