About My Clients
At its core, therapy is about listening to a voice deep within yourself. A voice that you might not have heard for … who knows how long. A voice that has been muffled or shut off because of all of those things in the world, and the sadness or anxiety that you’re feeling inside. People don’t always know how much you’re carrying on your shoulders. It takes a lot to just get through the motions of each day. So you’ve lost touch with that voice, and with the person it belongs to.
My Background and Approach
I am an integrative and person-centered therapist, which means that I will tailor my approach specifically to you and your unique experiences. My role is to be a supportive guide as you embark on this unique journey of self-discovery. As the Persian poet Rumi once said, “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” The first step (reaching out!) can be the most difficult and takes enormous courage. You can schedule a free consultation by using the contact information on this page. You can also learn more about my research, writing, and teaching at www.sarahkamens.com. I hope to meet you and look forward to telling you more about my practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my personal life, I am a parent and dog lover. I transitioned from a career in academia into private practice and am familiar with issues facing students as well as faculty. Prior to and during my graduate studies, I spent time living abroad in Europe and the Middle East, and I draw on those experiences when working with clients facing migration, ‘culture shock,’ and discrimination. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community and believe that love is love.
