About My Clients
My areas of focus include, anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, grief/loss, stress management, major life transitions and adjustment disorders. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative as well as versed in non-monogomy. I also enjoy working with teens, young adults and adults who strive to succeed and often feel overwhelmed by the stressors this entails. I am passionate about supporting parents/caregivers as well as men who are trying to create healthier relationship patterns. I also see couples and families.
My Background and Approach
I provide a calm and creative setting that nurtures the resilience everyone has inside them. I believe that humor, when appropriate, and warmth go a long way in building relationships with clients and co-workers. In my practice, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution focused therapy as well as relational and strength-based approach when providing individual, group, couple's and family therapy. I am trained in experiential therapy including Psychodrama, and use that as a a tool for change. I also offer secure, HIPAA compliant video therapy if that would better fit my clients schedule. I also use pet therapy with the help of my yellow lab, Jolie. Pet therapy has been shown to reduce stress, increase rapport, and support resilience. I studied Psychology and Sociology at Louisiana State University before getting my master’s degree in Social Work at The University of Texas-Austin.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
During my free-time I love spending time outside with my family, camping, gardening, reading, listening to live music, and traveling. I am a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ community. I believe in supporting clients where they are at in life and helping them transition from times of crisis or stress, to using healthier coping skills as a catalyst for positive change. I believe everyone should have access to quality mental health care and is an advocate for social change around mental and behavioral health.
