About My Clients
I enjoy helping individuals who experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, life transitions, as well as those who want to overcome various symptoms of trauma. Often people I work with are seeking more peace, empowerment, and healthier relationships with others and with themselves. In this, my aim is to help individuals feel more confident, attuned to themselves, and kinder to parts of themselves, even those that can be hard to accept.
My Background and Approach
I use a warm approach by incorporating empathetic listening, affirming communication, a non-judgmental stance, and often a sense of lightness and humor. I may also gently challenge you and ask difficult questions to help you explore perspectives that can expand insights and awareness. I incorporate modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), psychodynamic work, relational lens, and mindfulness into my practice. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy, and often use this tool for folks who are feeling stuck by experiences of trauma in some form. Before entering my own practice, I worked at a group practice in San Francisco where I provided individual as well as couples therapy to adults in the Bay Area. Prior to that, I have experience being a clinical social worker in hospitals, outpatient programs, community outreach programs for adults, as well as providing respite services to children and their families.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people are deserving of healing and overcoming obstacles in their life. My background in social work has influenced my tendency to look at the whole person and all parts of their identity- to invite all parts of themselves. With that, I am a strong proponent of social justice work, and have supported and identified with missions of the Black Lives Matter movement, Planned Parenthood, and climate change initiatives. I am a regular contributor to the Shummi Land Tax led by Sogorea Te' Land Trust, as well as the Loveland Foundation. I also participate in a racial literacy group with fellow mental health professionals to work through my own whiteness as a white identified and Latinx person.
