About My Clients
Individuals of any age struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, and difficult life transitions may improve with treatment that accesses the creative side of the brain through a safe and therapeutic method of emotional expression. No artistic skill required! Children and youth who have trouble talking about their thoughts and feelings due to developmental, emotional, or English language skill reasons can use the creative process to learn how to build social and coping skills.
My Background and Approach
Sheri has 15 years experience working for the Kent School District as a certificated teacher with a k-12 art and 4-12 English endorsements. She has over 40 years experience as an artist, producing and showing her own art, and mentoring and showing the art of other artists young and old. ShSheri Stephens prioritizes the needs, strengths, and values of each client through Person Centered Expressive Arts therapy, Strengths based, and Biopsychosocialspiritual oriented approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Sheri sees each client as a complete individual, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually and not as a set of separate symptoms or diagnosis. Art Therapy is used to mitigate undesirable symptoms and reinforce client strengths. Sheri works to improve social justice in her community through participation in the Kent Black Action Commission.
