Why I Became a Therapist
As an out, Non-Binary, Queer Person of Color in high school with conservative & religious parents, I faced many struggles that inevitably had detrimental effects on my mental health. My saving grace was a therapist who made an indescribable difference in my life. I wanted to offer that same hope for others. I set out to learn & do what I needed to do in order to reach my goals. I obtained my 3 BA's & later my MSW from the University of Southern California (USC), where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. During my graduate tenure at USC my concentration was Mental Health, & a sub-concentration of school settings. My education, preparation, & practicum was focused on providing services & treatment in the mental health field. My experience includes working in: community mental health, school districts, private mental health, & non-profit organizations. I have worked with a diverse clientele of all ages, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, genders, sexualities, abilities, & religions.
