About My Clients
Sometimes thoughts, memories, and moods are causing us distress. Often, when we try to express these to others, we are left feeling more confused about what we are feeling or misunderstood afterward. Sometimes words fail us, and we cannot find the right way to express ourselves and feel stuck. No one should have to face what they're going through alone. I am here to support you on your journey. I am sure I will learn just as much from you as you will from me along the way.
My Background and Approach
I have found in my work that when words fail, art can help us bridge that language dead-end. I am a registered Art Therapist; I believe art is innately human and can provide a safe space to initiate growth and change in individuals. As a trauma-focused art therapist, I view all clients through a trauma lens. The distressing experiences we have had in the past affect and influence the present moment. I provide trauma processing through Art Therapy & EMDR. I am also trained in DBT and can provide those skills to individuals. There is no "supposed to"; only your process and I will meet you where you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At the core of my work as a therapist is a belief in every person's inherent value and worth. I believe that each of us has the capacity for growth and change, no matter what challenges we may face. My goal as a therapist is to help you tap into your own inner resources and find the strength and resilience to face whatever comes your way. I also believe in the power of creativity and self-expression to promote healing and transformation. Art therapy provides a unique opportunity to explore emotions and experiences that might be difficult to put into words. Through the creative process, we can gain insights into our thoughts and feelings, connect with our inner wisdom, and find new ways of relating to ourselves and others. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role as a therapist is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
