About My Clients
The populations I specialize in counseling include people who identify within the broad LGBTQIA+ spectrums of sexual orientation and/or gender identity, persons living with HIV, polyamorous folks & others in non-monogamous or open relationships, and kinky people. I work with clients working on anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, life skills, communication skills, boundaries, assertive communication, mindfulness, relationship counseling, and life changes.
My Background and Approach
Along with a strong base of person-centered therapy, while taking into account how society, culture, and family shape us, I may use cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based therapy, mindfulness, DBT-informed therapy and EMDR as appropriate for each unique client's needs. I strive to provide a non-judgmental, respectful, calm, and stable environment as your counselor. I enjoy relationship / couples / marriage counseling, and love working with people in non-monogamous or other open formats. While I am a cisgender woman, I am gender-affirming and trans-competent in my therapy due to working directly with transgender clients since 2013. I follow WPATH Standards of Care as far as they are an acceptable place from which to start, but my training and experience is more expansive than just one approach. *I am licensed in Florida, Massachusetts, New York, and South Carolina and provide virtual sessions to clients who are physically in any of these states at the time of our session.*
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal values and causes or ideals I donate my time, money, or other resources to include: LGBTQIA+ rights and wellness, social justice and civil rights, feminist, sex positive, pro-choice, anti-racist, anti-capitalism, decriminalizing sex work, and actively advocate for these issues. I also advocate for space science and exploration. * A note about my fees and session lengths: I recently lowered my session fee to $100 for individuals or couples in order to try and accommodate more clients, provide privacy to my clients by not taking any insurance, adjusting session length to 45-minutes for my personal self-care, as well as to provide time to work with those who are a good fit for EMDR treatment (90 minutes are suggested as a best practice) or just want a longer session. These EMDR or extended sessions will be 90-minutes and are $200.
