About My Clients
Life's challenges can feel dark, heavy, or even impossible to deal with. Most people who start therapy feel stuck repeating the same painful patterns or wake up every morning feeling overwhelmed and depressed. It is possible to feel better. It's important to me to provide a non-judgemental space where you can be yourself and together we can help you build a life worth living. I'm passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ clients, substance abuse/addiction issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
My Background and Approach
My own challenging life experiences are what lead me to become the therapist I am today. I use this understanding to inform me in helping others become more empowered, healthier and achieve more fulfilling lives. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist, is knowing that I had a part in helping someone else transform their life. Our sessions will provide you with the space to step away from the weight of the world and oppressive dominant narratives. It's important to me to create a space where you can express your thoughts and emotions and feel heard. My focus is a collaborative, client-centered, integrated approach where I look at the whole person and the many factors impacting them. I use an integrative approach from the following modalities: LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapy, Somatic, Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Art Therapy, and more.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a queer identified therapist and I believe the therapeutic relationship is a tool for healing. I collaborate with clients to evoke change, foster self-awareness, share tools to work with dysfunctional thoughts and behavior patterns, and uncover inner resilience. I also believe that community can support the healing process. I volunteer to make more safe spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals and make these spaces safer for all intersecting identities within the community. My recent and past volunteer work includes Colorado Queer Artist Collective, Queer Asterisk, BConnected non-profit (formerly known as the Denver Metro Bisexuals Social Club on Meetup), The GLBT Center, and PAVES - Polysexual Alliance for Visibility, Education, and Support.
