About My Clients

My Background and Approach
Dr. Larson-Konar is an integrated therapist, influenced by psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, ACT, and CBT frameworks. His approach is empathetic and supportive, though direct and straight-forward. He also believes that different approaches work for different clients, so he strives to use the first several sessions to develop a deep understanding of a client's concerns and a treatment approach that will compassionately and direct address those concerns. Dr. Larson-Konar is PSYPACT certified, which means he can see clients (via telehealth) from most of the United States.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Dr. Larson-Konar believes: people have a tremendous capacity for inner strength, but sometimes we all need help accessing that strength. Dr. Larson-Konar approaches therapy from a feminist and anti-racist stance, and he prizes the therapeutic relationship, ensuring that it's safe, warm, caring, and empowering. He also strongly believes that to affirm and draw forth the richness and depth of his clients’ overlapping cultural identities, he must acknowledge and take accountability for his own and for existing political and historical power structures that can be both privileging and oppressive.
