Accepting Clients

Hi! I'm a psychotherapist that provides high quality, culturally affirmative care specializing in mood, trauma and LGBTQAI+ issues.

Mental Health Counselor in Brooklyn, NY

About My Clients

I know it can be overwhelming finding a therapist. My clients are often looking to better understand themselves or find healthier ways to cope. They might be struggling with relationships, navigating major life changes, or facing substance use issues. Many are members of the LGBQ and TGNB communities or allies. I believe each person has their own unique identity, culture, and environment, so I place great focus on honoring those parts of each individual and working within their framework.

My Background and Approach

I'm a practicing psychotherapist and have trained in NYC and Sydney, Australia with additional certification in trauma treatment. I'm an instructor in Applied Psychology at New York University. I draw from a psychodynamic, attachment-based, anti-oppressive, creative art and trauma informed work. In my work, I believe the dynamic between client and therapist is one of our most valuable assets in therapy. With compassion, energy and curiosity, I strive to meet you where you are to support and hold space for you to reach honest emotional expression, an integrated understanding of your journey, and help you feel safe and seen. I also believe that collaboration, creativity and sometimes humor are essential to the process!

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My interest in social justice stems from youth work in Chicago where I able to learn to become an accomplice with those who hold less privileged identities than me. Since growing up as a queer kid, the need and move to fight for not just my own community but others who are oppressed has become a lifelong mission that is ever changing and growing. I have a responsibility work hard to create consciousness in both myself and others about the privileges I have been handed. With this, I have worked in various levels to engage myself and others in lifelong fights against anti-racism, while making particular moves to step back and reserve space for those more marginalized than myself. I also believe in the power of music and weaving it into sessions (even if it's just your song of the day!). I'm a big fan of pets, and I've been known to welcome and say hi to any and all pets that come join the screen in sessions.
