My Background and Approach
Mr. Burks graduated cum laude from Adams State University with a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and from George Washington University in Clinical Management and Leadership, bringing a wealth of academic achievement to his practice. He furthered his education with a master's degree in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University, where he earned the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. Additional studies at the Maryland University of Integrative Health and the University of Santa Monica honed his expertise in Integrative Health and Wellness and Applied Psychology, respectively. Furthering his pursuit, he engaged in the Clinical Depth Psychology doctoral program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. With advanced training spanning psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Jungian and Depth Psychology, DBT, CBT, group therapy, and Positive Psychology, Mr. Burks offers a comprehensive approach to counseling and holistic well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
With over 25 years in healthcare, I have found myself most aligned with the works of luminaires like Carl Jung, Drs. Ron and Mary Hulnick and many contributors to depth psychology, positive psychology, Gestalt psychology, self-psychology, ego psychology, non-secular spiritual psychology, and humanistic psychology, to name a few. I believe lessons bestowed upon us on this Earth are a curriculum meant to illuminate the Authentic Self. Through a soul-centered lens, we align ourselves with our Authentic Self. When we do our "Ego-work," we take "Soul" responsibility for our lives and realize the innateness of who we are.
