About Our Clients
My practice (Lycan Counseling Collective) is comprised of many providers that have immediate openings for online work. In general, we focus on provide safe, affirming care to youth and young adults who identify as LGBTQIA2+ and/or neurospicy/ND and who are experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. We work with individuals, families, and partners to provide safe space for growth. We also provide gender care assessments and referral letters in a 1x appointment.
Our Approach to Helping
Our providers have a variety of modalities that we specialize in to best support clients. Some of our providers have a specific modality specialty, such as EMDR, DBT, Brainspotting, CFT, Gottman, etc. and some prefer a more eclectic approach. ALL of our providers believe that therapy is not a one size fits all approach and share the goal of working with you to discover what works best in your situation. Therapy is a process that takes work and time in session AND outside of session. We cannot create change in only one hour a week. You have to put in the work as well. We can guide you and support you, but ultimately you are the agent of change in your own life. YOU have the power to heal and grow and succeed on your journey. Our role is to walk with you on that path.
Our Values as Mental Health Practitioners
As a collective we value working with providers and clients that share values supportive of those most vulnerable and in need. We take a cooperative and social justice approach to our work both in session and out of session in our advocacy efforts. We believe that systemic issues (e.g. capitalism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, aphobia, fatphobia) impact us all and our ability to cope with challenges and truly thrive as who we are. We see our work as a collaboration with you, a walk along side - not over - to empower you to create change that will be sustainable and help you navigate these challenges. We recognize the harm that is often perpetuated in our field and a need to develop trust between us. To that end, we believe that it is important for therapists to share some of their identity so that you know who you are sitting in the room with. We don't have space to share more here, but you can learn more on our website lycancounseling.com/therapists.
