About My Clients
I am uniquely skilled in engaging the struggles related to trauma, life transitions, and the LGBTQ community. Many of the men and women who choose to work with me are in the grips of anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, or relationship challenges. Many are highly motivated professionals that are self-reliant and achievement-focused, but often struggle with self-defeating thoughts and patterns that keep them feeling stuck.
My Background and Approach
I am good at recognizing the issues that affect our sense of self and our ability to be in nourishing relationships. As a result of my training and experience, I have found depth psychotherapy with an analytic, relational and spiritual approach to be the most powerful vehicle for growth and healing. Depth psychotherapy is a dynamic exploration of your life. Taken with a trusted and skilled guide, this collaborative journey can bring long-lasting relief from suffering and freedom from deeply engrained, self-defeating and unconscious patterns that keep you from being your self in the world and from living a more fulfilling life. I'll bring a style that is warm and unitive, combining psychoanalytic theory, Jungian psychology, philosophy, spirituality, and perspectives on healing from many different cultures and traditions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We all need a relational home, a trusted other who can help us grasp our hopes, our fears, our experiences, and our true selves through the ups and downs in life. Some communities have a particularly strong need for an environment where those things will be accepted, treated with respect, and supported through the growth and healing processes. Even with all the positive changes happening around LGBTQ rights, individuals, couples, parents and prospective parents in the LGBTQ community still face many unique challenges. Through our work together, many people from the LGBTQ community who work with me have found a safe place to share their stories and explore their lives. Some common issues that arise are related to depression, anxiety, life transitions, difficulties with work or school, sex addiction, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other health-related issues.
